It can also be used to access gopher

be used for managing electronic mail (email). By
the end of the summer, we hope to be able to use it to provide MSC staff
and students with better access to such information
resources as Fund Accounting Query.
- Anzio Lite - Version 10.9a (Rasmussen
Software, Inc.)
- A "telnet" program used to remotely login to another computer
on the network. Within a window you may interact with the other computer
in just the same way as if you were directly connected to it with a terminal.
This program has been configured to directly access
Robin Hood.
- WS95_FTP Limited Edition - Version 4.00 (Ipswitch,
Inc.)
- A program that you can use for transferring documents and other files
between two networked computers. This program will be useful for transferring
WordPerfect documents on Robin Hood to the new MSC file server. The name
of this program "WS95_FTP" reflects that it is a Windows sockets
(WS) program for Windows95 that implements the standard File Transfer Protocol
(FTP).
- qws3270 - Version 3.2e (Jim
Rymerson, Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario Canada)
- A "telnet" program that can emulate an IBM 3270 type terminal

Other Software
- PageMaker - Version 6.0 (Adobe

- A desktop publishing program for preparing documents and publicity
materials. This program is especially useful for items that incorporate
both text and graphics. This is currently being purchased.

that can be sorted and reported as needed. This is currently being purchased.
- VirusScan95 - Version 2.0 (McAfee)
- A program designed to detect and remove viruses that can damage data
and productivity.
We are planning to install
the following additional software
- Improved versions of existing database applications
- Development is currently underway to convert major database services
currently offered on Robin Hood to be web-based. An improved web
server statistics program is already available. An improved Fund Accounting
Query program is being developed.
The following software is being considered
for possible purchase and installation
- Fax Server software
- We are researching various programs that would enable faxing documents
directly from a Windows95 computer without having to print on paper and
manually process through a fax machine. This software would utilize one
or more fax/modems shared by all MSC staff. The purchase of this software
is dependent on the availability of sufficient funds.
As new software is installed, we are committed to providing
appropriate training.
If you have other software installation requests either for yourself or
the organization, please contact MSC Computer Operations. It is important
that we make sure that all installed software is properly
licensed.
