Accessing Robin Hood
On the MSC Windows95 computers a program called "Anzio Lite"
is available to connect to Robin Hood. A shortcut
to the program is provided as a desktop
icon. This program uses a "telnet"
function to establish a connection over the network to Robin Hood allowing
you to login and perform the functions available on that system.
Logging In
To access Robin Hood, simply double-click on the "Robin Hood"
icon. A window will be opened that will display the "login:"
prompt requesting your username and password.
Logging Out
Since logging into Robin Hood dedicates resources on that system to you,
it is important when you are finished using Robin Hood that you free up
those resources for yourself or someone else to use later. To do this,
you must properly log off of Robin Hood by using the F7 key to exit
out of the WordPerfect Office menu on Robin Hood. When you properly log
off, the Anzio Lite program will also automatically be closed. If you have
changed any Anzio Lite settings while connected to Robin Hood (more on that
later), you will be asked if you want to save these changes. A simple selection
of "Yes" and "OK", or "No" is required in
response. If you are uncertain, choose "No".
*CAUTION*--DO NOT use Anzio Lite's "Quit" function on the "Exit"
menu or click on the close box at the right end of the title
bar. Similarly, be sure to properly exit Robin Hood before choosing
to "Shutdown" from the Windows95 Start
button. Although doing these things will quit Anzio Lite, the resources
you have connected to on Robin Hood will remain allocated which not only
may inhibit future logins but may also lock your email system until a System
Administrator can perform appropriate functions.
Screen Appearance
Although Anzio Lite has several menus with a variety of functions, most
of them are for the purpose of configuring the program to properly access
Robin Hood and should not be changed. However, you may safely try all options
on the "View" menu except "Screen Size". The
available options include:
- Block Cursor - Toggles your blinking cursor between being an
underscore character or a solid block.
- Zoom - Resizes the window to fill the entire screen. This can
also be achieved by clicking the maximize button on the title bar.
- Colors - You may choose whether you prefer black text on a white
background with bold text in red (standard) or green text on a black background
with bold text in a lighter green (reverse). The reverse option will make
the screen appear very similar to our existing HP terminals.
- Screen Font - It is recommended to not change this option since
the preselected "Terminal" font is the one that best displays
border lines.
- Font Size - This option will let you change the size of the window
by adjusting the size of characters used.
- Screen Size - Please do not change this setting. It is preset to match
the 80 characters/line x 24 lines used by Robin Hood.
Another function that you will appreciate is the "Print Screen"
option on the"File" menu. It will cause the current screen display
to be printed (one screen per printed page). Alternatively, you may use
the mouse to select a section of the display, then use the "Copy"
command on the "Edit" menu to copy the selected screen text so
that it can be "pasted" later into a word processing document
or other file.
Function Keys
WordPerfect software (menus, email, word processing, etc.) require the use
of the function keys to perform various tasks. The various types of computers
previously in use in the MSC required different methods of utilizing the
function keys. Anzio Lite requires yet a different variation, but should
be easier overall to use and will provide a consistent method for all users
using the new computers. This program utilizes the F1..F12 keys in combination
with the Shift and Ctrl keys to perform
Key Function Example Anzio-Lite HP-term PC-286 PowerMac
------------- ---------- ------------- ------- ----------- --------
Fourth level Block Ctrl Shift F4 F16,F4 Alt Kypd- F15,F4
Third level Move Ctrl F4 F15,F4 Ctrl Kypd- F14,F4
Second level ->Indent<- Shift F4 F14,F4 Shift Kypd- F13,F4
First level Indent-> F4 F4 KypdHyphen F4
The Ctrl key works like the Shift key in that it must be pressed
at the same time as the function key rather than as a separate keystroke
before the base function key is hit (F4 in the above example).
